The Swedish Duo Rita Saxmark, vocals & Sabina Agnas, guitar will be performing a thrilling mixed programme featuring composers from near and far spanning many different time periods. Naturally the duo place a strong emphasis on Swedish music and poetry but also perform renaissance music, folk music, songs, ballads and melodies from musicals and films by composers from all over the world....
Let them take you on a magical journey with music from the Swedish greats Evert Taube and Carl Mikael Bellman, plus stars in the British firmament such as John Dowland, Robert Burns and the Beatles!

Duo Rita & Sabina

Duo Rita & Sabina have performed at New Mills Festival every year since 2009.
The pair met as musicians many years ago and started their exiting musical journey together as a Duo just four years ago. Both accomplished musicians themselves they love to experiment with and develop the classics they perform by writing fresh arrangements with new tonal hues. They released their first CD “LOVE and LIFE” last year to great critical acclaim!

Rita Saxmark, vocals
Rita is a versatile opera singer from Sweden. During her studies in Sweden she subsequently attended Masterclasses at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Sir Geoffrey Parsons, Professor Laura Sarti, and Professor Paul Hamburger as well as with David Harper and others. She has sung major and lead roles in many operas and musicals in Sweden & Eurpe. She performs concerts with pianists such as Jan-Erik Sandvik, Monica & Carl-Axel Dominique and is co-producer and member of the opera cabaret group "The Diamonds" and on top of that a member of ”Stockholm New Operetta ensemble”. She has received several grants from the Artists Board in Sweden.

Sabina Agnas, guitar
A Swedish classically trained guitarist who has also recently become an aficionado of flamenco guitar. She studied as a soloist under Josef Holocek at the University of Gothenburg’s Academy of Music and Drama and after graduating continued her professional training in London with John Mills. In 1999 Sabina published a guitar course for children called “Giraffe Tunes for Little People”, with an accompanying CD which was nominated for a Grammy Award the same year in Sweden.
She has worked on both TV and Radio and freelances in many different fields with several projects and musicians such as Georg Gulyás, Urban Agnas, Eva Norée (Möller), Anita Agnas and others.
